I wish this was a happy post.

Circumstances have changed since my last post... da dum da dum DA DUM.

I got fired from my permanent, full-time, eight year old job about two months ago. This came as a shock. I was having some trouble, I admit, but I was working on it! And apparently I was okay! Two weeks later, apparently not! My manager (who fired me) was the first in a line of managers to have issues with my work and expect all of us to be one hundred percent efficient. And he fired me OVER A VIDEO CONFERENCE MEETING. Couldn't he have waited until he got back to the office at least?

It's been very depressing. I'm still looking for work two months later, and I just got a call from my sister with a reality check. I own my own apartment, but I'm on a mortgage, and if this goes on for much longer, I'll default on the payments. Which means the bank will resposses it and leave me in debt in the bargain. I said I was considering renting it out for a year or so, but she's dubious that I'll get enough rent to cover everything. Plus, she says, it can take a while to rent out and I'm running out of time. She goes on to say that I might have to sell it. Right now, because how soon will I find a buyer?

I'm in shock all over again. I don't want to lose my place. Are things that bad already? Will I got a job soon enough that this is all moot? What am I going to do?

Where's the fic where I meet my soul mate who has an awesome apartment and I move in with him for a cheap rent? Or better yet, he helps me find a new job that is so awesome that I'm glad that I was fired from the old one.

RECS please, pretty please. I need to be cheered up when I get back online. I'm into Merlin or SPN or J2 or Numb3rs or NCIS or Leverage right now...

Oh, Jody, I' so sorry to hear about all that! I know how much you love your place. I really hope you get to find a job soon enough so that you won't have to go through selling it. *hugs tight*

Is it difficult to find a job in Perth at the moment? I mean, I assume it is, like everywhere in the job, when it comes to real jobs. I wish you luck for your job hunt anyway (and your ex-manager is an asshole).

As for recs, I haven't been reading much lately (or I have but it's in the The Eagle fandom) but here is what I can think about:

J2 stripper!AU. The link to the first part is in the author's notes at the beginning, this is the link to the sequel. Funny and fluffy and cute. And apartment!sharing... :P

hooker!Merlin modern AU. Interesting to read as it's pretty rare to see Merlin depicted as an asshole.

This one is a Merlin modern AU again, by derryere. It's just excellent, as always with derryere.

I hope those fics will cheer you up a bit! (Especially the first one. The two others are a bit darker but happy endings anyway!)

*hugs back* Thanks, I'd forgotten that you've actually seen my place. It looks pretty much the same, I think. I got a new rug.

Oooh, lovely stories! I'm on my way out soon for my sister's birthday lunch (the one who gave me the reality check, how ironic), but I can't wait to get into them. Ta, I feel better already.

I've also remembered that my best friend Shelley was also talking about renting, and said that she'd help me spruce up the bathroom to hopefully get more rent. Plus, I'm going to offer the place fully furnished. Yep, I'm going to try the renting thing first.

I'm sure you could rent it easily: it's in a nice quiet place, good location and I loved the way it looked already! I don't remember the bathroom so can't talk about this one but I loved the decoration, the colors and the furniture from the rest of the flat. At least, your sister's call gave you the will to fight back, even though it depressed you a bit at first.

I hope you enjoy the fics!

No recs, but lots of sympathy. This sucks.

Keep your chin up.

Aw, thanks, the sympathy helps. Oh man, sympathy is one of those words I just cannot spell. Normally I'm really good with spelling, but certain words defeat me. I had to look at how you spelled it, ha ha!

My chin is back up! My best friend is going to help me improve on the bathroom so that it looks as good as the rest of my place, and I'm going to rent the apartment out fully furnished. That should bring the rent up, right? I'm going down fighting.
